THYON 2000

This ascent offers you a magnificent view of the Val d'Hérens. Cross forests and alpine pastures to reach one of the largest ski areas in Europe at an altitude of over 2000m.
From Sion, you leave the plain by a large road with an almost pleasant slope. As you go along, the panorama widens to open up onto the magnificent Val d'Hérens. You first cross the typical and sunny village of Vex before joining a small forest road strewn with old mayens. The itinerary leads you first to Thyon 1800 and continues on a mountain pasture road. You can now admire the spectacular summits such as the Dent Blanche or the astonishing natural phenomenon of the pyramids of Euseigne. Further on, you can see the Grande-Dixence dam before starting the last few meters of ascent. These last meters offer you a remarkable view of the southern side of the Valais mountains.
